Fibrocystic Breast Disease

Fibrocystic Breast Disease is not technically a disease, but a condition in which cysts, or lumps, occur in the breasts and is caused by monthly changes in levels off estrogen and progesterone. The presence of fluids from the breast that cannot be eliminated by the lymphatic system cause the formation of fibrous tissue that thickens like a scar. These lumps can move freely and can be firm or soft. Symptoms include tenderness and lumpiness in the breasts and discomfort, usually occurring right before menstruation.

A low-fat, high-fiber diet including plenty of raw foods, seeds, nuts and grains is recommended. Apples, bananas, grapes, grapefruit, raw nuts, seeds, fresh vegetables, yogurt, whole grains, and beans should also be included in the diet. Also eat foods high in germanium such as garlic, shitake mushrooms, and onions. Do not consume coffee, caffeinated tea, soda, or chocolate. Also avoid alcohol, animal products, cooking oils, fried foods, salt, sugar, tobacco, and all white flour products.
