Hypothyroidism

Hypothyroidism is characterized by the under production of thyroid hormone and causes symptoms such as chronic fatigue, an inability to tolerate cold, low body temperature, loss of appetite, a slow heart rate, easy weight gain, elevated cholesterol, painful premenstrual periods, heavy periods, a milky discharge from the breasts, muscle weakness, fertility problems, muscle cramps, dry and scaly skin, a yellow-orange coloration in the skin, yellow bumps on the eyelids, hair loss, recurrent infections, slow speech, goiter, drooping, swollen eyes, constipation, migraines, hoarseness, difficulty concentrating, and constipation.

Apricots, dates, egg yolks, molasses, parsley potatoes, prunes, raw seeds, and whole grains should be included in your diet as well as fish or chicken and raw milk and cheeses. These foods may further suppress thyroid function and should be limited or omitted from the diet: broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, kale, mustard greens, peaches, pears, radishes, spinach, and turnips. Limit processed and refined foods, including white flour and sugar.
