Multiple Sclerosis
Multiple sclerosis is a degenerative disease affecting the central nervous system, including the brain, optic nerve, and the spinal cord. It has been found that the body’s immune system produces antibodies that attack the myelin sheaths causing scarring that complicates communication between the nerve endings. This causes symptoms such as slurred speech, loss of vision, and limited mobility. MS is usually diagnosed between the ages of twenty five and forty, and although there is no known cure for the disease diet and supplement programs have been known to help slow progression of the disease.
Avoid foods with chemical treatments or food additives by eating organic and fresh produce, eggs, nuts, and seeds, and cold-pressed vegetable oils. A vegetarian diet is highly recommended. Include raw sprouts, alfalfa, sauerkraut, dill pickles and other foods containing lactic acid in the diet. Also eat plenty of vitamin K in the form of dark leafy greens. Drink plenty of quality water to avoid the buildup of toxins. Completely avoid alcohol, barley, chocolate, coffee, dairy products, fried foods, highly seasoned foods, meat, oats, refined foods, rye, salt spices, sugar, tobacco, wheat, or processed, canned, or frozen foods.
