Sinusitis
Sinusitis is characterized by inflammation of the nasal sinuses. Sinuses are air-filled pockets connected to the nose and throat used to drain away mucus and are designed to protect the lungs from infection. Sinusitis usually affects the sinuses above the eyes but can also affect the sinuses on the side of the nose, inside the cheekbones, behind the bridge of the nose, and in the upper nose. Symptoms on sinusitis include fever, cough headache, earache, toothache, facial pain , cranial pressure, difficulty breathing through the nose, loss of sense of smell, and tenderness and/or swelling in the face.
For sinusitis a diet consisting mainly of raw foods is recommended. Drink plenty of distilled water, fresh vegetable and fruit juices, and hot liquids such as soups and teas to aid the flow of mucus. Cayenne pepper, garlic, ginger, horseradish, and raw onion may also help relieve congestion. Do not eat sugar and limit salt intake. Avoid dairy foods unless they are soured to avoid increased mucous production.
